The most important thing in a nutshell: ostrich farming. Coherent concept, presented in an appealing way. Clean! Dedicated team, friendly and helpful, great location, very nice garden. I can highly recommend a wine tasting. Price / performance ratio is right. Update from October 2020: Highly recommended.
Well worth seeing bar in a historic, brick vault, which served as stables for cattle much earlier. Hence the name Kuhkapelle. The chapel-like ceiling, massive columns and a plank floor made of ancient wood create the unique feel-good atmosphere that you feel as a guest. Modern, illuminated showcases show well-preserved Roman and Celtic finds from Rheinhessen. Appropriate to the concept, the extensive menu also includes many "Roman-style" delicacies, e.g. the sausage. Find out why it tastes "Roman"! The baked sheep's cheese with beetroot carpaccio is also recommended. In addition e.g. a good wine from the owner's vineyards. In summer you can sit in the back of the garden between old fruit trees. Recently there has been an additional outdoor area in the courtyard, walled and roofed, equipped with patio heaters and blankets (also in response to Corona). Well done and "masterfully" bricked! The restaurant is centrally located in the town center. You should park in side streets (e.g. Keltenstraße at the Catholic Church). The restaurant is always well attended, has a very friendly, committed owner with a partner and equally competent wait staff. My recommendation for a guaranteed nice evening!
Something completely different, really delicious, very great location and very friendly
Unfortunately bad service and finished food. Had a table near the kitchen and could see the green Schwälbchen Spund cheese pack. The question whether the Spund cheese was homemade was answered with "yes". So there is also cheeky lying here. Very disappointing. The rest of the "Roman food" was cold, dry and not really tasty. Can you save yourself. Stay away this is a rip off!
Very nice family also top wines and good food with a beautiful winery. What more could you want ?!
Top wines in a Roman ambience! Corona update: Outside, the Historic Team has conjured up a new and fantastic location! It's really cozy here! Gerhard Blödel is by far the most creative winemaker far and wide. Not only his wines are top-class enjoyment, but also his Strauss tavern in the old cow vaulted cellar with glass showcases full of Roman finds is very tastefully decorated. The Historic Merlot has topped all comparable Merlot wines in the region for more than 10 years. Anna conjures up fantastic dishes and is happy to fulfill special requests. Those who have never eaten Roman will get their money's worth here. The souvenirs made from old glasses and ice wines are also a highlight. The rarity wine tasting is and remains an insider tip. Anna and Gerhard are perfect hosts and the old & enjoyable wines are the "hammer".
A slightly different bunch economy Feel-good atmosphere with delicious food and a good glass of wine.
Here one works with lifeblood, who loves delicious wines and sometimes other food, which is right here,
Beautiful property with old wine cellar, large garden, lovingly furnished guest rooms with all sorts of exhibits from Roman times. Also the food is great, e.g. Roman dinner with Lucanicae sausages, beetroot, cream cheese and bread.
Super delicious food in a cozy atmosphere.
Very good food, beautiful ambience and very nice owners. The menu is something completely different.
As always great 👍🏻
